BOOK ART

Now, I know that there are a lot of book lovers out there who see damaging a book, any book, in any way even in the name of art, as an excuse to cut a bitch; I am not one of those people. I think that books are like hunted animals — the entire carcass should be put to use, devoured. Giving old, previously loved books a new life and a new purpose can result in breathtaking works of art. I’m going to start posting galleries of my favourite book-related artists. Enjoy!

These are some pieces from an artist named Thomas Allen. He takes vintage pulp novels and painstakingly cuts out certain images from the covers and manipulates them to create really awesome pulp-era scenes.

Three unique greeting cards made from vintage Harlequin books complete with irreverent text inside and hilarious story description on back cover. Perfect for any occasion (might I suggest Black Diamond for a birthday — “from conception to birth is nine months”).
